Famous, Infamous, and Lesser Known Works

I've been asked to post my plays online. For the record, I am doing so under the assumption that no one will ever read them. If I'm wrong and someone does read them, steal whatever you want.

Recently I've been thinking about the idea of being stranded on a deserted island with someone else. Having fallen off of a Cruise Boat, that is the situation that Dennis and Theresa find themselves in.

What Really Matters is about a group of college students who find out that they are quarantined and have only 10 days left to live. What would you do? Go crazy? Get married? Both?

Here's an excellent play I wrote as my capstone project at ASU. It's not too long, and very funny. Two characters T-bone and Becca meet in a bar and begin dating. Eventually, both start stalking the other in order to find out if the person they have a crush on is a creep. Can two people learn to love each other when neither are perfect?

This play is rated R. I wouldn't suggest my mother read it.

Holy crap Dan! I don't know why I didn't see these here before, especially since I've been bugging you to let me read them for so long.
They're both amaaazing!

Ok so the first one, I remembered you telling me about it but I had forgotten the details, like that they're MARRIED! So yeah, that was a great twist. And the fascinating thing is, in today's world I could actually believe that happening, at least the idea of trying to restart by adopting different personas in an attempt to win over the same person. As well as it not working, like in this case. I'm very impressed by her strategy in the end, it leaves me really curious as to what happens in six months. I always think about situations similar to this one and how people like him make me so angry but I never can find the words to say (in my head, granted) to get through to him and help him understand, but I would hope that she actually accomplished that. I feel like whether or not they wind up happily ever after together they're still likely to be happily ever after in some way, even if not together. Not sure if I'm supposed to understand that they make it off the island, but it is a play so... suspension of disbelief I guess. Bravo!

Same with Morons From Nowhere Special, I remember the vague details but I might as well have been reading it as though I'd never heard of it. I couldn't stop laughing though at how much of you came through. There were certain lines that I don't think your everyday audience member would get, but that people who know you would laugh out loud at. For example, all the commentary on/references to Disney, Friends, The Simpsons, Bush/Bush haters who didn't vote, post-modernist plays, Shakespeare, 40 Year Old Virgin, etc. etc. Aaaand I love the question at the very end about being left completely vulnerable to a person, because I'm pretty sure that's a direct Dan Pugh quote that you've no doubt brought up at some point or another. And then there's the obvious Danism of getting out of something that which you put into it. And on a completely separate note, I love the set up at the end with the split halves of the stage and the up and down lights that build to the back and forth dialogues with all lights up.

I gotta be honest, I like these two a lot better than the dinner theater plays. I think you write a lot more believably when you're not semi-censoring yourself for church audiences. That and I think both of these scenarios are much more possible, and the dialogue is more true to reality.

Wow, so now that I've written the equivalent of what I should be writing for my classes... Anyways, I'm glad I finally got to read these, they're amazing! Have you looked into getting them published or performed by a company? How have they been performed before? I really want to hear what you think about what I think!

And in other news, miss you and can't wait to hear about how the LCM play and the BABY(!!!) are coming along! Give Ashley and everyone else back home my love!
